What is FCRA?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.) regulates the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer information by consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) for eligibility determinations such as credit, employment, insurance, and housing.
CaseForum's Status
CaseForum is a public legal transparency platform. It aggregates public court records and provides commentary on legal proceedings. It does NOT furnish consumer reports as defined by the FCRA, and it is NOT a consumer reporting agency.
Prohibited Uses
You may not use CaseForum or any data obtained from CaseForum for:
- Credit eligibility determinations
- Employment background screening
- Tenant or housing screening
- Insurance underwriting or pricing
- Any other purpose requiring FCRA compliance
Accuracy and Disputes
CaseForum displays court records as received from public portals. It does not independently verify their accuracy. If you believe a record is inaccurate, you must contact the originating court directly. Because CaseForum is not a CRA, there is no right to dispute information under the FCRA.
